9.0 Introduction to Cadences

The word Cadence is synonymous with drop and implies a termination, rest, or at least a dividing line between two phrases or two members of a phrase.

Cadences are to music what punctuation is to speech. They regulate breathing in singing as well as in any musical performance and they have a particular influence on processes and harmonic effects.
